We've been working on 4 major initiatives since the June STF in-person meeting in DC: this online forum, a focused sustainability symposium where invited experts can offer feedback on our initiatives and formally collaborate, forming an advisory committee of recognized leaders in relate fields, and developing sustainability principles that we can use as a touchstone for future policy and potentially for metric/certification development.
I'm very relieved this forum is up and running. I've been anxiously anticipating its launch since February. Task force members have been working really hard, but we are only a small group of volunteers. To be successful we need a much broader perspective and more heads working on this. I see the forum as the most powerful tool we have to accomplish this. I hope that it's used constructively. What we don't need is for it to digress into anonymous negative postings, as sometimes happens on any forum.
I'm also very interested to hear feedback on the task force's work to date. Does the public like the direction we're going in? How can we do it better? What's working well? I'm eager to hear more and see how this forum evolves.
